Service Description
While I love everything I do, there is a special place in my heart for teaching writing. There’s something magical that happens when a student discovers their unique voice on the page—that moment when words begin to flow with authenticity and power. I’m passionate about both the art and the craft of writing, believing deeply that great writing emerges from the beautiful intersection of creative expression and technical skill. My approach is rooted in enabling authentic and engaging authorial voices rather than imposing a single “correct” way to write. Every writer has something distinctive to offer, and my role is to help students discover and develop their particular strengths while building the technical foundation that allows their voice to shine through clearly. Drawing on my experience as a Writing Center Fellow at Georgetown University and decades of teaching experience, I’ve learned that the most effective writing instruction is both deeply personalized and carefully structured. I take time to understand each student’s interests, goals, and natural inclinations, then create customized instruction that meets them exactly where they are while challenging them to grow. I’ve worked with students crafting everything from college application essays to short stories, from persuasive speeches to experimental poetry. Many choose to test their skills in writing contests, and some have achieved regional and national recognition in prestigious competitions. The improvement is always marked and measurable. Students learn to approach writing with both analytical thinking and creative intuition, developing stronger organizational skills and more sophisticated sentence structures. Most importantly, they find their authentic voice, moving from writing because they must to writing because they want to express something meaningful, and well. • Teaches students to write with both structure and style, ensuring clarity and sophistication in academic work and essays alike. • Strengthens analytical reasoning through writing — the same cognitive process used in top-tier admissions essays and interviews. • Develops authentic authorial voice, a marker of individuality that admissions committees prize in personal statements.
